The Atacama Desert is a desert in the north of Chile. It is famous for its lunar landscapes. It is extremely dry there.
It is an amazing place and a must visit when in Chile. One thing to note is it quite expensive to stay there. Even a small room with single bed in San Pedro de Atacama was quite expensive. This is due to high demand and the cost of running a business in the middle of the desert.
Local young people hold raves out in the middle of the desert. Note San Pedro de Atacama is at an altitude of around 2400m. So, you might like to acclimatise a few days on arrival.
