Düsseldorf street art is alive and well. Düsseldorf is not as edgy as Berlin, but is renowned for art nonetheless, with a famous Art Academy and several world class art museums and galleries.
In 2015, Düsseldorf was host to the 40Grad UrbanArt Festival in the inner city (see photos below). This section of the city has now been completely renovated and the street art destroyed.
Kiefernstraße is a famous street in the neighbourhood of Flingern, where all the houses are decorated with street art. In the 1980s, it was a centre for squatting and became famous in 1986 when Eva Haule, a member of the left-wing terrorist organisation the RAF, was arrested there.
