Melbourne is the arts capital of Australia and its second biggest city. It has a long tradition of street art found in edgy suburbs and lanes in the CBD. Melbourne street art is some of the best in the world.
In there CBD, there are several lanes famous for street art. They are very touristy, the most famous of which is Hosier Lane. If you are lucky, you can catch some of the artists at work. Works change with regularity. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the graffiti in these lanes and some of them smelt of piss.
I found much better works in the edgy and hipster neighbourhoods of Fitzroy and Collingwood.
